The sheet music app for Windows PCs and Surface tablets

SheetScroll runs on 64-bit Windows PCs with Intel, AMD or Arm chips, including Surface devices. It reads PDFs, scans and notation files, listens through the microphone or MIDI, and turns the page two beats before the end, never early. The reader is free; listening is Pro, bought as a license key.

Can a Windows PC be a music stand?

Yes, and many musicians already own one: a Surface that folds flat on a stand, a laptop on a piano's music desk, an all-in-one near the practice room. The need is the same as on any stand. Both hands are busy, and the page has to turn.

SheetScroll puts the page turn under the music's control, so you do not need a free hand.

What does SheetScroll do on Windows?

  • 64-bit PCs: Intel, AMD and Arm. Arm has its own setup notes on the download page.
  • Reads your music as printed: PDFs and scans keep their look. MusicXML, MuseScore, Guitar Pro, MIDI, ABC, MEI, Humdrum, chord charts and text tabs open too.
  • Listens: through the microphone, or a digital piano over USB or Bluetooth MIDI.
  • Turns pages: two beats before the end, never early; it holds the page and outlines the places it is choosing between when two passages sound alike.
  • Works offline: reading and following run on the PC.

What about Surface and touchscreens?

On a Surface or another touchscreen PC, tapping the bar you are on tells SheetScroll where you are, and tapping the page brings up the controls. On a laptop without a touchscreen, a Bluetooth pedal does the same job.

Most pedals work as they are, sending Page Down and Page Up, the arrow keys or Space. If yours sends other keys, set them in Settings > Pedals and keyboard.

How should I set up a Windows PC for playing?

  1. Pair a Bluetooth pedal in Windows Bluetooth settings, then open a score.
  2. Plug a digital piano in by USB, choose it in Settings > Listening, and SheetScroll follows the notes without a microphone.
  3. Allow the microphone if you play an acoustic instrument. Check that Windows is using the microphone you want.
  4. Put the PC on a stand at eye level and plug it in. Laptops get warm; leave room around the vents.
  5. Choose a view for the screen. A wide screen suits two pages side by side; a tablet-shaped one suits half-page turns.

How do I get Pro on Windows?

Pro bought on sheetscroll.com is a license key. Enter it in Settings > SheetScroll Pro > Enter License Key. A key works on up to three devices, and Remove from This Device frees a place.

The reader is free forever. Pro adds listening and automatic turns: $5.99 a month, $29.99 a year with the first 2 weeks free, or $79.99 once. With sync on, Pro bought in any store works on every synced device.
